Doctor of Philosophy Program in Medical Technology

(International Program)

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Program in Medical Technology is the international program that aims to enhance the student’s ability in seeking their own ways of learning and researching for the innovations. The Ph.D program in medical technology is enriched by the vibrant research and academic. The program emphasizes fundamental knowledge, advanced technology, knowledge integration together with cutting-edge research designed to equip graduates with strong academic and research competencies in order to be innovative change agents and make the largest possible impact for society needs. In addition to the academic and research competencies, our Ph.D program has produced scholars with eagerness for life-long learning and individuals who are capable of thriving in this ever-changing and globalized world. As such, our graduates have enjoyed pursuing careers in wide varieties of setting including academia, research, profession, the private sector and in government service and business sectors. Since firstly enrolled students until the present (2019 academic year), the program has been enrolled students with a total of 150 students and 105 students have been graduated. The Ph.D program in Medical Technology was developed in 1995. Since then, the program has been effectively revised every 5 years (major revision) in order to improve its quality, offers an advanced high quality educational and cutting edge research opportunities that are aligned with the faculty/university’s vision and mission, labor social/market/country needs, the aspirations and abilities of each individual, and keep up to date with trends in medical technology/radiological technology, and advanced technology in other related fields. Our Ph.D program offers both plan I (research only) and plan II (coursework and research). Student enrolls to plan I or plan II depending on their qualifications, experiences and expertise in research, and communication skills. The coursework consists of 15 credits of required and 10 credits of elective courses which are taught in the first year with a total of 25 credits. The research variedly takes 2-4 years according to the topic and study design with a total of 48-73 credits depending on the plan of study. Students are also required to get them researches published in international peer-reviewed journals for their graduations .

Admission Requirements


The requirements admission of each study plan are as follow.

Plan A1 (Research based) A candidate must:

1. Graduated in Master degree in Medical Technology, Health Science other related discipline from academic institute approved by the Office of Higher Education Commission with cumulative grad point ≥ 3.5

2. Pass the English Proficiency requirement announced by Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS)

3. Have at least 1 original research publication or academic work in peer reviewed international journal

4. If an applicant does not meet the above criteria but has other suitable qualification and experiences, applicants may be considered to apply for admission under the program committee

Plan A2 (Course work and research based) A candidate must:

1. Graduated in Master degree in Medical Technology, Health Science or other related discipline from academic institute approved by the Office of Higher Education Commission with cumulative grad point ≥ 3.5

2. Graduated Bachelor degree in Medical Technology or other related discipline with honor, from academic institute approved by the Office of Higher Education Commission

3. Pass the English Proficiency requirement announced by FGS

4. If an applicant does not meet the above criteria but has other suitable qualification and experiences, applicants may be considered to apply for admission under the program committee
